What to Expect

You may be fearful, uncertain, or even skeptical, but you know that staying stuck is no longer an option.

Together, we can work towards a future where you feel empowered, connected, and at peace with yourself and your relationships. If you are seeking a compassionate and warm counselor, I would be honored to partner with you on this counseling journey.

Therapy is a deeply personal, unique, and vulnerable experience. The therapeutic relationship is different from any other relationship in your life because its purpose is to offer safety, understanding, unconditional positive regard, clinical interventions when deemed appropriate, and support for any problem that you bring into the counseling room.

"My mission is to empower individuals with the strength of mind and spirit to face life’s challenges with personal bravery, fostering resilience and emotional well-being through compassionate, evidence-based care."

Valor /ˈvalər/

: Strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with personal bravery.

What to expect during our time together:

Therapy typically begins with 1-3 sessions dedicated to understanding your history and establishing clear goals. We then spend the next 3-4 sessions developing coping mechanisms to manage your current stressors. The final phase of therapy delves deeper to address the root causes of the issues that brought you here. The specific length of treatment varies greatly from person to person.

FAQs

  • 9How often do I need to attend therapy?
As with most things in life, consistency is key. I recommend starting with a frequency that you can commit to, be that weekly or every other week. Gaining momentum at the beginning of the therapy journey can facilitate experiencing positive results sooner.
  • 9What results can I expect from counseling?

Clients experience a newfound sense of freedom and peace, no longer limited by old, worn-out ways of viewing themselves and the world. They feel less anxious and reactive, and more in control of their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. They are able to respond calmly to life’s situations, rather than being hijacked by old reactions. They learn more about themselves and discover they have choices.

  • 9What age groups do you work with?

My focus is on working with adults of all ages (18+).

  • 9What is your availability?
  • Monday and Wednesday – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday – 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Friday – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • 9How can I determine if you are the right therapist for me?

Choosing the right therapist for you requires careful consideration. Practical aspects like location and availability are important, but so are the therapist’s expertise and your personal connection with them.

It’s highly recommended to have an initial conversation with the therapist before committing to sessions. Preparing a list of questions beforehand can help you gather essential information and assess compatibility. Often, you’ll instinctively know if the therapist is a good fit for you during this conversation.

If you’re still unsure, attending a few therapy sessions can provide more clarity. Remember that it’s perfectly acceptable to express any concerns or doubts you have during these sessions. Open communication with your therapist is crucial for a successful therapeutic relationship.

  • 9Do you take insurance?

Yes, but please note that for couples sessions where both are present insurance is not accepted. For all other sessions I accept the following insurance providers through Headway:

  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • United Healthcare
  • Oscar
  • Oxford
  • Optum
  • Carelon
  • Quest Behavioral Health

Self-Pay/Out-of-Pocket Rates

Individuals: $165 Intake Session (60 min) and $135 Regular Session (50 min)

Couples: $215 Intake Session (90 min) and $175 Regular Session (60 min)

Out-of-Network Billing

Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits for therapy, which can reimburse clients for a significant portion of out of pocket session costs.

I partner with Thrizer, a payment platform designed to simplify out-of-network therapy payments by linking with your health insurance, verifying coverage, and handling claims, allowing you to pay a copay after meeting your deductible instead of paying the full out-of-pocket rate up front and then waiting to get reimbursed by your insurance company.

I am ready to get started. What are the next steps?

You can reach out to me via text at 407-212-7508 or book online to set up a complimentary 15-minute consultation phone call.

During the call, both therapist and client can decide if this feels like a good fit, ask any questions, and discuss scheduling/logistics.

Then we can schedule the first appointment!
